The North West’s first private children’s unit was opened at
BMI The Alexandra Hospital, in Cheadle. The launch was celebrated with a
special visit from Santa, as well as footballer’s wife and mum-of-two Julie
Neville.
Providing a bit of early Christmas magic to the unit, Philip
Oehley - Executive Director of BMI The Alexandra Hospital – joined Santa to
hand out presents to the children who were being treated at the
unit.
Philip comments: “Our new unit will ensure that children
receive the highest level of care from specialist consultants and dedicated
paediatric staff. We cover a range of specialities, from routine
procedures to complex
surgery.
But of course, we understand that children and their
families would rather be at home for Christmas. That’s why we wanted to
make their stay at BMI The Alexandra Hospital as festive and enjoyable as
possible.”
Julie Neville, wife of footballer Phil Neville and founder
of health website Win Naturally, came along to join in the
festivities. As an added treat, Julie brought along some natural,
sugar-free organic lollipops on the day. Julie has a close connection
with BMI The Alexandra Hospital, as her daughter Isabella - who has cerebral
palsy - has been treated at the hospital, and will have further treatment at
the new paediatric
unit.
Treating children from the birth to 16 years of age, the new
unit is serviced by specialist paediatric consultants and staff able to treat a
wide range of
conditions.
The unit has eight single en-suite rooms, a four-bedded day
case ward, a treatment room, and play room and an adolescent
room.
