Unum
has launched a unique Penny Jar app, enabling users to see how long they could
survive financially, if unable to work due to illness or injury.
It
uses average benefits; expense figures and a few key personal facts and figures
to provide a rough calculation of how long people would be able to stay afloat
financially if they lost their income.
9
out of 10 people do not have a back-up plan to support themselves, if
they lost their income due to illness or injury. Unum has set itself the challenge to make
Income Protection interesting and accessible to UK workers in a positive
way, in order to raise awareness of the protection gap.
Unum
has also created A Musical Tribute app that allows users to take the things and
people they like and bring them together to create a fun personalised music
video. To use the app, consumers must first choose a genre of music
they like and then pick out the things they love: their closest friends and
their interests and hobbies. These come together to generate a
personalised music video, celebrating what is important to them.
Unum research reveals
that despite the importance of protection many consumers find it a complicated
topic to understand, so disengage.
