Cosmetic laser eye surgery can make a beneficial impact on people's lives.
This is according to Professor Harminder Dua, president of the Royal College of
Ophthalmologists, who states that the confidence gained by laser eye surgery is
worth considering for those who wear contact lenses.
He explained that cosmetic surgery would also mean the risks of infection
associated with placing a lens on the eye every day will be removed.
Speaking about the laser surgery, he said: "It is relatively simple in the
sense that it is very technology driven, so it is the machines that do all of
the [work]."
Professor Dua stated that people recover from the procedure in less than 24
hours because it is very quick and both eyes can be operated on in the same
appointment.
David Parkins, spokesman for the College of Optometrists, recently advised
contact lens wearers to wear protective goggles in snowy conditions.
