Three Sheffield charities have netted thousands
of pounds thanks to the city’s two biggest football clubs and the support of
Westfield Health.
This season Westfield is jointly sponsoring
Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday. One of the most important elements of
the sponsorship has been the opportunity to raise money for some of Sheffield’s
most important charities.
The shirts worn by all 32 players in the recent
thrilling 2-2 Steel City Derby went up for auction to help boost funds for
Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, the Cavendish Centre and The Children's
Hospital Charity. All the players who featured on the pitch signed their shirts
and they were then made available on e-Bay to the highest bidders. The auction
raised £7312.
