Shameek Popat, who owns and practises at Rosebank Dental Practice in Hertfordshire, added the ultimate accolade to his expanding trophy cabinet when earlier this month he was named the UK’s 'Private Dentist of the Year'.
The title, which was awarded by the dental industry’s most established award ceremony, the 'Private Dentistry Awards', saw Shameek Popat judged alongside some of the UK’s most outstanding practitioners in a category that was judged by world leading dental experts.
On the night of the awards, David Houston, Chairman of the Judging panel, explained that the quality of shortlisted individuals in the category of Private Dentist of the Year – the most sought after title in the awards - is a wonderful testament to the motivation, innovation and ambition of the best dentists within the UK. The shortlisted finalists are figureheads who inspire and motivate their colleagues.
When speaking about the ‘Private Dentist of the Year’ category, he went on to say, “The winner demonstrates charismatic leadership, dedicated patient care, ethical principles, first class practice management and clinical skills. He is commitment to delivering excellence for the patience he serves and the teams he leads. He has an indisputable vision to ensure that UK dentistry remains at the forefront of worldwide practice and works hard to represent British dentists on an international platform. He truly is an outstanding professional.”
This award is the fourth prestigious title to have been awarded to Dr Popat in this year alone. Back in April 2010, at the Smile Awards, he won titles for his the cosmetic and restorative dentistry techniques he helps patients with.
Commenting on this latest recognition, Dr Popat said, “It is always fantastic when your peers judge you to be leading your profession. However for me the best reward I can have is smiling patients. To know along with my team I have helped maintain somebody’s health or relieved them from pain, perhaps restored their faith in dentistry by helping to lose their fear of our dental chairs or helped them to feel a million times better about themselves with even the smallest amount of work provides me with the ultimate satisfaction.”
