Living with HIV does not mean the end to trips abroad

Goodtogoinsurance.com
On World AIDS Day (1st December), specialist travel insurer, goodtogoinsurance.com says that living with HIV does not have to mean the end of holidays abroad.  There are currently 90,000 people living with HIV in the UK, and it remains one of the fastest growing serious health conditions. Many sufferers might believe it will be difficult to get fairly priced travel insurance, which may put them off travelling abroad at all. Fairly priced cover for HIV carriers is available, helping them travel safe in the knowledge that they are protected should something go wrong.

The World AIDS Day Act Aware Action campaign is about people taking action and making commitments to help improve understanding about HIV in the UK, prevent HIV transmission and stop prejudice.

Only a limited number of travel insurers cater for people who have been diagnosed with HIV. This cover often comes at a very high cost with the result that many may actually choose to travel without declaring their condition, leaving them without cover for incidences that arise as a result of their virus. Alternatively, those living with HIV are forced to give up foreign travel.  But this is unacceptable and unnecessary.

Iain Sykes of goodtogoinsurance. Says, “Many people living with HIV find it difficult to get the right level of travel cover at a reasonable price. This means some people may travel without declaring their condition, leaving them unprotected for anything relating to their virus. I want to remind people living with HIV that they can access affordable travel insurance that caters to their specific needs. We can medically screen anyone with a pre-existing condition, and in almost all cases they can be covered, offering them the peace of mind they need to enjoy worldwide travel and medical support when they need it most.”

A medical screening process helps them provide the appropriate medical travel insurance cover for an individual‚s condition. It is easy and only takes a few minutes. Travellers simply complete a short questionnaire online or over the telephone and in almost all cases, they can get an instant quote. There is no need to provide medical certificates or to contact any doctors.
