Groupama Insurances is rolling up its sleeves in support of Let’s Get Cooking, a national community and schools-based programme to educate children about healthy eating. Employees volunteer as part of a team to share their skills and expertise, build their professional and personal skills, and make a difference to the lives of children in deprived areas of the country. The initiative forms an important element of the company’s business in the community pledge.
16 volunteers visited Cardwell Primary School in Woolwich to promote healthy eating amongst 120 pupils aged between seven and nine. Throughout the day, employees and pupils created and planted a vegetable and herb garden and in the classroom volunteers and children made fruit kebabs, participated in games and painted a mural of a hungry caterpillar. Each pupil was awarded with a certificate for taking part in the challenge.
Let's Get Cooking is a national network of school-based cooking clubs for children, parents and the wider community, led by the School Food Trust and supported by the Big Lottery Fund.
