Surge in demand for fat removal treatments as brits plan post christmas weight loss

The Private Clinic

The Private Clinic Group reports 133% rise in pre-Christmas consultations for Vaser lipo

The great Christmas over-indulgence may not yet be over, but it seems that many people have already made plans to get in to shape for the New Year.

The Private Clinic of Harley Street, which has clinics nationwide, has reported a 133% surge in patients booking in for pre-Christmas Vaser lipo consultations throughout November and December, with the intention of having treatment early in the New Year. Such is the demand for the fat loss procedure, that some of the cosmetic doctors at the clinic are now booked up until the end of February.

The clinic, conducted 147 Vaser lipo consultations throughout November 2009, and 166 in just the first two weeks of December in its three clinics in London, Manchester and Birmingham.

Vaser lipo is a minimally invasive procedure performed under local anaesthetic. It involves melting the unwanted fat using ultrasound and then sucking it out via a gentle suction process. The treatment can be used on all areas of the body where excess fat is stored, including on the tummy, thighs, upper arms and chin. Up to two litres of fat can be removed at one time.

Dr Dennis Wolf, the Cosmetic Doctor at The Private Clinic says; “Vaser lipo is ideal for shifting stubborn fat that can be hard to get rid of through diet and exercise. It is therefore more for people who are near their ideal weight, but who have built up pockets of excess fat over the years; rather than for people who may have had too many mince pies over Christmas.”
