Patient reveals benefits of dental implants

Dental implant
A patient who damaged his top four front teeth at an early age has revealed the difference dental implants have made to his life.

Steve Hornby, 36, from Oldham, told the Daily Mail that he wore four crowns for 20 years, but starting having problems with them three years ago.

Mr Hornby developed an abscess and, despite penicillin and root canal work, he was told he would need dentures.

After reading up on dental implants, he decided to go down this route instead and contacted Professor Cemal Ucer at Oaklands Hospital, a private hospital in Salford run by Ramsay Health Care.

He told the Daily Mail: "For the first two days, I was nervous about putting pressure on my new teeth.

"But then I could bite into a raw carrot, which I hadn't been able to do for years. And finally I can eat a juicy steak without worrying."

Oaklands Hospital is located close to the A580 and the M602 in Salford and currently has 15 single en-suite rooms, a double high-dependency unit, two operating theatres and a separate unit for minor operations and endoscopy.

As well as dental surgery, the private hospital also offers gynaecology, general surgery, orthopaedics, urological procedures and cosmetic surgery.
