Cosmetic surgery can involve multiple stages, says BAAPS

The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) has told people that cosmetic surgery is sometimes completed in more than one session.

David Ross, a consultant plastic surgeon and member of the organisation, pointed out that there can be various reasons why more than one operation needs to take place for the desired aesthetic to be achieved.

Often, he finds that customers are happy with their treatment but decide that they would like to take it further than first planned - and in some cases the nature of the surgery requires multiple sessions.

Mr Ross commented that people sometimes come back after an operation because they want to be retreated in some area.

But, he noted: "Once you have removed fat from an area, if a patient maintains a normal diet and maintains a routine degree of exercise, they should not put that weight back on."

Recent research by the BAAPS indicated that 91 per cent of all cosmetic surgery is carried out on women.
