Cosmetic surgery can alter difficult areas, says surgeon

Areas of the body that can be difficult to alter just by exercising can be sorted out through cosmetic surgery, according to a medical professional.

David Ross, a consultant plastic surgeon, highlighted the problematic area on the flanks of people's bodies - or love handles, as they are sometimes known - as one such part of the body which can be very difficult to tone down through exercise alone.

He pointed that most men who request liposuction treatment will have this procedure done to reduce fat in this area, while women will usually want the surgery on their upper thighs or their arms.

"If you have got a slightly full or larger arm where the skin is not too lax, then liposuction can help. Particularly ultrasound-assisted liposuction," added Mr Ross.

In his experience, a popular choice of operation for both men and woman is the removal of fat from under the chin.

This week, a new liposuction treatment called VASER Lipo, which uses ultrasound rather than a suction device to carry out the operation, was reported on by the Daily Mail.
