One cosmetic surgeon has claimed than an increasing number of women are seeking cosmetic surgery after childbirth.
Dr Hugh McLean claimed that 'mummy makeovers' are in demand for women aged between 20 and 39.
The surgeon noted that desired procedures include tummy tucks, breast lifts and breast augmentations.
According to Medical News Today, one of the possible reasons for the increase in new mothers seeking cosmetic surgery could be the fact that the average age of childbirth is increasing.
"New mothers simply don't have the skin elasticity they need to bounce back to their pre-pregnancy bodies, no matter how much they work out or diet," the news source remarked.
Dr McLean backed up these comments: "These women are usually active. They're keen on living a healthy lifestyle and maintaining a fit body.
"But the weight gain and loose skin they experience after pregnancy is disheartening."
He added that many people do not realise that celebrities achieve their post-pregnancy bodies with a little help from a cosmetic surgeon.
