A new healing gel has been launched by cosmetic surgery experts that could revolutionise the treatment of inflammation and scarring.
HEAL has been developed by The Firm - a skincare group that includes cosmetic surgeons at London Plastic Surgery Associates.
The gel can be used to treat inflammation of the skin after surgery, as well as sprains, sunburn, bruises and scars.
Containing arnica, haloxyl and glistin, it reduces discomfort, repairs tissue damage and promotes healing.
Skincare expert Peter Butler of The Firm, who leads the UK facial transplantation team, said: "HEAL was created because no single product existed that combines all the elements of reducing bruising and inflammation as well as accelerating the healing process.
"The difference with HEAL is that the key ingredients are present in the right formulations to ensure they penetrate the skin's surface and actually have a dramatic effect on the end result."
Research by London Plastic Surgery Associates found that 94 per cent of patients found HEAL to be soothing when used on bruised areas; 82 per cent said that it reduced post-surgery swelling; and 85 per cent claimed that it was effective at reducing bruising after surgery.
