Cellulite treatments 'must be supported by lifestyle changes'

An expert has revealed that cellulite treatment is unlikely to be effective unless the patient also alters their diet and exercise regime.

Cellulite is a type of fat commonly found on the thighs and buttocks which forms when waste fluids become trapped under the skin, causing a dimpling effect.

Cellulite expert Georgios Tzenichristos, from the Lipo Consultation in London, revealed: "Professional cellulite treatments are not enough and will never reduce cellulite if they are not accompanied by the right exercise, diet and lifestyle regime.

"I make it clear to my clients from the beginning that the treatment is only part of the solution, as cellulite fat removed by a treatment must be 'burned' by the client - otherwise it will inevitably return back to the client's thighs."

Mr Tzenichristos concluded that, while a good cellulite cream can offer action against cellulite around the clock, treatments can help "in ways that no cellulite cream can", highlighting the importance of an integrated approach to cellulite treatment.
