Bupa improves NHS purchasing

Bupa has been appointed to Department of Health Framework for procuring External Support for Commissioners (FESC)

Dr Natalie-Jane MacDonald, of Bupa, says:

"Bupa is pleased to have been appointed to the Department of Health's Framework for procuring External Support for Commissioners (FESC).

"We are committed to supporting the NHS to further enhance healthcare commissioning, and it's great that our capability and experience in this field has been recognised. We look forward to working with Primary Care Trusts to offer support across all commissioning functions, including assessment and planning, contracting and procurement, performance management, settlement and review and patient and public engagement. Bupa has the most extensive healthcare commissioning resources in the UK outside the NHS, as well as a significant international presence.

"With 60 years' experience in healthcare, we understand how to work successfully in partnership with a range of organisations including the NHS. Like the NHS, Bupa is committed to putting the needs of patients first. We have no shareholders and reinvest surpluses back into the business for the benefit of patients.

"We are committed to enhancing NHS commissioning, and look forward to working with Primary Care Trusts to support them in delivering high quality care and best value."
