BMI hospitals achieve gold stars for patient satisfaction

BMI The Priory and Edgbaston hospitals in Edgbaston have been awarded an overall satisfaction scores of 98.6 and 99.7 per cent respectively by their patients.

The scores are based on an independent survey of the hospital’s patients, which was conducted by market research firm, Howard Warwick Associates Ltd, during the period January 1st to December 31st 2010.

The survey measured patient satisfaction across a broad range of criteria including patients’ overall impression of admission, nursing, consultant care, imaging (X-ray) anaesthetists, theatre staff, accommodation and whether patients they were treated with respect and dignity.

The two hospitals employ over 500 staff and work with 600 consultants. Its specialties include orthopaedics, cardiology, gynaecology, urology and general surgery.

Keith Cunningham, Executive Director of both hospitals, comments: “All our staff are dedicated to providing the best possible patient care and patients are particularly appreciative of their efforts. We are very proud of our hospital and work hard to make each patient’s time with us as pleasant as possible. Our patient survey is an important indicator of how well we achieve this and we monitor the results very closely.”

A recent patient, Mr Barry Layton, said: “Everyone at the hospital was so nice and they all took time to look after me, in fact they took extra special care. I was very nervous, yet I was made to feel at ease and relaxed. I was so surprised how quickly my procedure date came round and how quickly I was treated. I had first class service which could not be faulted and I would certainly recommend the BMI Edgbaston Private Hospital to anyone.”

Marcus Green, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at The Priory and Edgbaston Hospitals comments, “I have been practising at BMI The Priory for over 10 years, and am deeply appreciative of the superb level of personalised service the nurses, staff and other consultants at the hospital provide to patients. Being in hospital can be a very stressful experience for patients and their families, so we all work together as a team to do all we can to ensure that patients receive top-notch care in a clean, comfortable and friendly environment.”
