Aviva supports Mind’s Taking Care Of Business campaign

Aviva welcomes and supports Mind’s new Taking Care of Business initiative that aims to remove the stigma associated with mental health by helping business to recognise that their staff are vulnerable to developing mental health problems and encouraging them to make it a corporate priority to address mental health in the workplace.

Recent research by Aviva suggested that stress continues to be an on-going issues with almost a quarter of businesses claiming that economically difficult times have taken a lasting toll on employee stress levels and have led to an inevitable rise in absence rates.

Dr Doug Wright of Aviva says,” Individuals can be affected by all manner of problems from personal factors to pressure of work and external issues and the impacts of stress, anxiety and depression on both their mental and physical health should not be taken lightly. Easily accessible confidential support services such as an employee assistance programme need to be made available to employees.”
