Britain’s leading private healthcare
provider BMI Healthcare has appointed Doctors.net.uk – the UK’s largest and
most active network of medical professionals – to highlight its services to GPs
and raise awareness of the different options available to patients if treatment
is not available on the NHS.
The
campaign for BMI Healthcare, which has 70 private hospitals and healthcare
facilities in Britain, will inform GPs about the wide range of services it
offers to patients who are unable to receive certain treatments free on the
NHS, or who would prefer to be cared for privately, enabling them to make
informed decisions about care available to their patients.
BMI
Healthcare, which treats 1,250,000 people annually, is unusual in that it
provides a full range of services across many specialties that are not often
found in private hospitals. These include cancer services, cardiology, ENT,
neurology and urology.
The
company is the largest independent provider of acute surgical services in the
UK and also performs more complex surgery than any other private healthcare
provider in the country.
It
recently became the first private healthcare group to achieve exemplar centre
status for the prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE)
which is widely reported as being responsible for many thousands of largely
preventable deaths in UK hospital patients.
Doctors.net.uk’s
12-month online campaign comprises a dedicated microsite that will feature a
range of resources including topical news items on private healthcare, polls
and case studies.
Simon
Grime, Managing Director of Communications for Doctors.net.uk, said: ‘We are
delighted to be appointed by BMI Healthcare. Our campaign, which is specifically focused on positioning the
company as the UK’s most comprehensive provider of
private healthcare services, will be a valuable resource for GPs, as NHS
budgets are cut and private care referrals are expected to become increasingly
common.’
Nigel
Moon, Head of Marketing Services, BMI Healthcare, said: ‘The current
changes to the NHS mean GPs need critical information about the alternatives
available to their patients should they need or want to have treatment in the
private sector. We believe that Doctors.net.uk offers the perfect channel
through which to provide help, information and support to GPs in this area.’
