Fad diets leading to post-wedding weight gain?

All About Weight

Crash dieting may be to blame for people's tendency to weight after getting married, according to one expert.

Will Williams, scientific advisor at All About Weight, explained those anticipating a wedding often attempt to lose weight, but in many cases this is done by following unhealthy fad diets.

But these are not sustainable and when the relief of being able to stop when the big day passes is combined with the excesses of both the wedding itself and the honeymoon, newlyweds can end up gaining more weight than they lost, he said.

Research conducted at Ohio State University recently revealed those getting married can suffer 'weight shocks' - with the risk of adding extra pounds greatest among women.

"This study clearly proves that there is a connection between weight gain and marital transitions," said Mr Williams. "This is important and useful information for those of us who work with overweight and obese people."
