Men appear to be particularly anxious of issues concerning their hair, it has been revealed.

Recent research conducted by Mintel found that 51 per cent are worried about going grey, while 40 per cent are concerned about losing their hair.

Furthermore, 38 per cent feel anxious about the unwanted hair around their nose and ears.

Vivienne Rudd, head of beauty research at Mintel, commented: "Although grey hair is traditionally seen as a mark of distinction in men, the reality is many men are unhappy with their newfound gravitas.

"The physical changes associated with aging can act as a catalyst to mid-life crisis and our research has discovered that men become less content with their appearance after the age of 45."

Obesity treatment could be needed by the 37 per cent who claimed that being overweight was their main worry concerning their appearance.

Finally, 30 per cent were found to be worried about having yellow teeth.
