Men's childhood relationships with their fathers can have an impact on their ability to manage stress.
This is according to a recent study conducted by the California State University-Fullerton.
According to the research, males who have fond memories of their fathers are more likely to maintain their emotional stability when faced with day-to-day stress.
Neil Shah, director of the Stress Management Society, said that everybody can benefit from relaxing regularly.
"Although a lot of people make time to eat, sleep, socialise and exercise, very few people actually take time on a daily basis to relax," he said.
"Most people, when asked what they do to relax say watching TV, read the paper or read a book – that's not actually true relaxation because your brain is still being stimulated."
High stress levels can also have a negative impact on women, as it was recently revealed by a study conducted at Oxford University that women who are stressed are likely to find it harder to conceive.
