New eyelash procedure could mean cosmetic surgery avoidable

Eyelash surgery

Cosmetic surgery to secure beautiful long eyelashes may be on the horizon due to the development of a new scientific procedure.

A gel that extends the length of time that eyelashes grow for has been discovered by scientists at L'Oreal's research laboratories in Paris.

Clinical trials have already confirmed the success of the procedure, which saw the length and density of participating women's eyelashes increase by as much as 30 per cent.

Angela Bartlett, chairman of the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology, told the Daily Telegraph: "Eyelash extensions are booming in the beauty industry at the moment.

"But as your natural eyelashes are discarded one by one at regular intervals, new extensions need to be added."

In other news, cosmetic surgeons have successfully carried out the UK's first eyelash transplant using hair from a patient's head.
