Women rush to seek thread vein treatment

Women rush to seek thread vein treatment
Women are booking up to have their thread veins treated now that the sun has finally started to shine in Britain, a cosmetic surgeon has revealed.

Thread veins are tiny veins with a red, blue or purple appearance that occur near the surface of the skin and tend to be harmless but unsightly.

According to Laurence Newman, director of Dr Newman's Clinic, the minor cosmetic surgery technique is becoming increasingly popular and takes just a few minutes over a lunch break.

There has been a 60 per cent rise in the number of appointments at the clinic and Dr Newman believes this is largely due to the late onset of summer.

The expert, whose clinic specialises in the thermo-coagulation technique, commented: "All too often thread veins stop people wearing what they want to wear in the sunshine.

"Many of our patients suffer embarrassment and self-consciousness about baring their legs in the sunshine but it can be easily treated."
