There has been a noticeable rise in the number of women undergoing
private cosmetic dentistry in preparation for their wedding, a dentist has revealed.
Dr Anoop Maini, lead clinician at Aqua Dental Spa and a board member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, said that the number of women opting for
tooth whitening or
veneers has nearly doubled in the lead up to summer.
He revealed that such an increase at this time of year is to be expected, but that this year has seen "particularly significant growth", especially among brides-to-be.
"It is usually women who may have been considering cosmetic dentistry treatment for some time, and the wedding is the catalyst as many want to be able to smile with confidence on their big day," he explained.
Dr Maini added that, while whitening is still the most popular cosmetic dentistry treatment, veneers have also been a growth area.
One woman who chose to have a 'smile makeover' is dental hygienist Monika Patel, who defended the decision saying: "Many people spend thousands on other wedding 'essentials' that don't last longer than the day itself.
"My investment will have me smiling beyond my wedding day and when I look back on my photos I'm so glad I had it done."
