Medical technology expert Stryker Corporation has announced FDA approval of its new, advanced bearing system, LFIT Anatomic Femoral Heads with X3 Polyethylene liners.

The new implant system, which is designed to improve hip replacement procedures, has been hailed as a significant advancement in hip bearing technology, according to Medical News Today.

Mike Mogul, president of Stryker Orthopaedics, said that metal on metal options in larger sizes only met the needs of some of the total population of hip replacement patients.

"We are excited that Anatomic Heads with X3 liners will help post-operative orthopaedic patients achieve their lifestyle recovery objectives," he commented.

The system combines two of Stryker's advanced technologies to help minimise dislocation, one of the main problems associated with total hip replacement surgeries.

Mr Mogul added: "We remain committed to offering our customers technological advancements that improve patient outcomes.

"In today's healthcare environment, these advancements must responsibly address both performance and economic issues."
