The appearance of a
perfect white smile on television is one that is becoming increasingly common
and leaving many viewers thinking that they would like to replicate the look,
according to one cosmetic dentist.
Genevieve Keane from
the Start Smiling clinic in Brentwood is responsible for the perfect smile of
many of the stars of reality show The Only Way is Essex and she explained some
of the procedures which could help transform a person's confidence.
"Whitening should only ever be provided by a qualified dental
practitioner. Don't be fooled by ultra-cheap services, as they could be
practising illegally and not providing an effective or safe product," the
dentist told the Sun.
Ms Keane also stressed the importance of good overall oral hygiene and health,
stating that it is imperative to the success of any cosmetic dentistry work.
She said even veneers, which usually last for nearly 20 years, can be in need
of replacement after five years if patients have a receding gum line.
