Women are unlikely to give up their anti-ageing routine, even in a tough economic climate.
This is according to Wendy Lewis, founder and editor in chief of Beauty in the Bag, an international beauty forum.
She explained that even non-surgical cosmetic procedures, like Botox™, will continue to be popular.
However, she explained that women are more likely to invest in one expensive product to substitute their lower-priced multitude of creams.
The comments follow research from Mintel, which confirmed that women are not economising on facial skincare.
In fact, this area was deemed to be one of the strongest beauty categories of last year in the five major European countries surveyed.
Facial skincare's market value totalled €6.2 billion (£3.84 billion) at the end of 2010; up from €6 billion in 2009.
Ms Lewis added: "Sirtuins, topical stem cells, and novel antioxidants are at the forefront of new developments in anti-ageing topical; [the] lash enhancement category is also growing by leaps and bounds."
