Exercise offers 'enormous benefits' during low risk pregnancy

exercise during pregnancy

Women who are enjoying a low risk pregnancy could stand to claim "enormous benefits" from exercise.

Indeed, Louise Whyte, founder of Penelope Fitstar, explained that working out can help women to be "fitter and stronger for labour".

She added that it will also be easier to regain your figure after you give birth and you can enjoy an enormous sense of well-being.

Ms Whyte's comments follow research from the University of Georgia, which found that low-to-moderate intensity exercise with weights is safe and even beneficial for women who are in a low risk pregnancy.

Mothers-to-be might want to talk to their private maternity services provider to get some more information about what kind of exercises they should be doing while pregnant.

The fitness expert added that a healthy diet is particularly important during pregnancy.

She advised women to eat a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables, with lean protein and low GI carbohydrates.
