People who are struggling with obesity could benefit from a simple switch in their diets.
By swapping a carbohydrate-based breakfast for one rich in proteins, dieters could reduce hunger pangs and cut their calorie intake for the rest of the day.
This is according to a recent study published in Nutrition Research which found that the study group of 21 men ate, on average, 400 fewer calories throughout the day when they had an egg-based breakfast.
Helenbeth Reynolds, a registered dietician and nutrition consultant, commented on the study: "Starting the day with a high-quality protein breakfast like eggs is a great tool to promote long-lasting fullness and reduced calorie consumption."
Eggs are one of the highest quality protein supplies in the food chain, according to the Egg Nutrition Centre.
The centre also revealed that eggs contain six grams of protein each, 97 per cent of which can be absorbed into the body upon digestion.
