A personal trainer has recommended that people who regularly attend the gym put some variety into their work out.
Rich Leigh, founder of fatfreefitness.co.uk, said that "it's key that you change your routine" in order to remain interested in exercise.
His comments follow a report in the Telegraph which claimed that the majority of gym-goers are "stuck in a rut" when it comes to exercise.
Mr Leigh recommended: "If you are going to keep [going to the gym] in terms of a lifestyle choice and in terms of something that you are going to keep up with, then you need progression – increasing weights, increasing the speed of jogs for example," he said."
The London Metropolitan University recently conducted a study which revealed that exercise classes create a feel good factor, prompting attendants to return to their gym.
It also revealed that achieving personal goals added to the levels of motivation seen in gym-goers.
