Pioneer bins 'wet signature' across Income Protection range

Pioneer friendly society logo

Income protection provider Pioneer now has a signature-less application process across its entire product range.

Clean cases will go on risk the same day as the electronic application is received, adding a signature will only be required if further medical information is needed. Previously, online customers would also have to send in a signed declaration before the policy started.

Pioneer is the latest provider to scrap the need for a wet signature, with Friends Provident, Bupa and Axa also cutting it for standard online applications.

Pioneer’s Paul Wood says, "We believe that income protection should be regarded as a necessity. Without an income everything else becomes irrelevant. With the introduction of signature-less online applications we hope to see a reduction in the time it takes to process applications and an increase in uptake of the product.

Consumers are already used to online and telephone transactions with no signature so we feel this process is just a natural progression for the company."
