Princess Grace Hospital introduces spine correcting surgery

Princess Grace Hospital introduces spine correcting surgery

The Princess Grace Hospital, one of London's best-equipped private hospitals, is now offering a state-of-the-art spine correcting surgery called balloon kyphoplasty.

The minimally-invasive procedure is used to treat patients with vertebral compression fractures and their resulting spinal deformities.

A surgeon inserts a small balloon into the vertebrae, which is then inflated to create a space into which a hardening agent can be injected.

This restores the shape of the vertebrae, repairing the break and reducing back pain.

According to Elliott Ewhare, senior product specialist at Kyphon Industries, some patients need little or no postoperative spinal rehabilitation after undergoing balloon kyphoplasty.

"This means patients achieve a rapid restoration of day-to-day quality of life, and experience a significant alleviation of pain very quickly," he explained.

The Princess Grace Hospital is located a short distance from London's Harley Street and offers a high standard of patient care across a range of specialities.
