Cosmetic surgery loans on offer at Lebanese bank

First National Bank Lebanon

A bank in Lebanon has recognised the demand for cosmetic surgery and is offering borrowers the chance to take out a loan to fund procedures.

As in England, the number of people seeking cosmetic surgery in Lebanon has increased significantly and surgeons calculate that demand has risen by as much as 20 per cent since October, according to the Lebanese website Ya Libnan.

Dr Nabih Sader, president of the Lebanese Association of Cosmetic Surgeons, told the website that political uncertainty is leading people to stay at home.

"Since they're not spending their money at night, they come to get work done, but Lebanese women have always been concerned with their appearance, and plastic surgery here is competitively priced and meets the highest standards," he revealed.

On the back of this demand, the First National Bank has launched its Plastic Surgery Loan, which enables consumers to borrow money for cosmetic surgery and private dentistry, Reuters news agency reports.

The bank's marketing manager, George Nasr, told Reuters: "Statistical studies showed that there is a huge increase in this sphere - in beautification surgery.

"We like to look our best…There are people who see this loan as their life raft."

British consumers seeking cosmetic surgery can benefit from the flexible finance plans offered by Transform, which enable patients to borrow between £500 and £15,000 interest free for 12 months.
