AA Travel Insurance advises skiers to venture off the beaten track

This year, a new trend is catching on among winter sports lovers. Instead of hitting the slopes at well-known and expensive resorts, many are choosing instead to venture off the beaten track. While resorts such as Canada’s Red Mountain, France’s Chevalier and Switzerland’s Arosa may not have the facilities of their upmarket rivals, they more than make up for those rough edges with an abundance of charm, crowd-free slopes and budget accommodation. These lesser known resorts offer winter holidaymakers a great chance to enjoy spectacular terrain and an unspoiled atmosphere at excellent prices.

AA Travel says; “If you are heading to the slopes this season, take out travel insurance. Winter sports enthusiasts will generally require a policy tailored to their needs, which will cover them fully in case of accident or mishap. Most standard policies will not cover participation in winter sports. A snow-specific policy, on the other hand, should include medical cover in the event of an accident on the slopes; crucial for skiers and snowboarders, who have a higher risk of accident than standard tourists.

AA Travel Insurance offers a winter sports policy that includes medical expenses of up to £10,000,000 as standard.
