AA Insurance introduces health cover

The AA, best known for providing emergency help for motorists, has entered the private medical insurance market in conjunction with AXA PPP healthcare, offering three levels of cover for both AA members and non-members. A dedicated 24-hour helpline provides expert information on health issues.

Simon Douglas of AA Insurance says: “This is a logical expansion of our health and life related products. The AA has built a trusted reputation amongst its 15 million members for helping to ensure the health of their cars. Looking after the health of our members and their families is an obvious step so we have launched into private medical insurance with one of the leading providers in this market. Private health care, once the province of the well off, is now available to anyone and we think that this cover will be widely welcomed. We expect to expand the range of services later this year with health screening cover.”

All levels of cover include surgical procedures, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, NHS cash benefit if members receive these treatments free on the NHS, CT, MRI and PET scans, day-case and in-patient care.

Members with more than one year’s AA membership joining the scheme benefit from two months’ introductory cover free plus online discounts, non-members/new members one month introductory cover, and there are online discounts.
