Westfield Health continues life-saving initiative

Westfield Health logo
Westfield Health has continued its initiative to provide free life-saving equipment to the community.
The company has donated nine defibrillator machines to a variety of organisations across South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire in its latest drive to reduce the risk of death following a cardiac arrest.
Bright Finance and Sheffield Forgemasters have received a machine each. The other companies to receive defibrillators were Williams Fasteners, UK Coal – Doncaster, Irwin Mitchell, Westfield School, Rotherham Titans, Microblade Ltd and Bridon Fox Wire.
Westfield has donated more than 40 defibrillators across the region since the campaign began in July 2002.
Defibrillators provide electric shock therapy to restart the heart and – if used in the first few minutes of the heart stopping – are considered to be the most important factor affecting the survival of patients.
In the UK more than 250,000 people suffer a heart attack each year and around a third die before reaching hospital. However, using a defibrillator can increase their chances of survival by more than a third.
