Insurance broker Fiona Macrae has launched a travel insurance policy for women suffering from breast cancer.
Cancer victim Fiona persuaded Equity Insurance to bankroll the project, which aims to cut premiums by around 50 per cent for sufferers who want to travel, but who usually face big loadings on policies.
Fiona, says: “As a breast cancer patient, I’ve been through the frustration of trying to source travel insurance for my family and, notwithstanding the excessive premiums, found the experience degrading, especially when having to answer insensitive questions from brokers.“insurepink has been created in consultation with charities that understand the issues. So it’s accessible, takes personal circumstances into account and is priced at the lowest premium possible.”
Radical change in the insurance industry
Equity Insurance Group chief executive Neil Utley says: “This is a radical change in the insurance industry. We’ve adapted our travel insurance products to reflect modern current thinking on breast cancer and the demands of customers.”
Our competitive travel insurance has been created for all, in consultation with established breast cancer charities that understand the issues faced by those affected by breast cancer, especially when seeking affordable travel insurance.
insurepink’s travel policy has been developed for women living with breast cancer who are very frustrated when trying to find affordable cover so families can enjoy a well earned break with peace of mind.
The policy offers:
Fairness when providing cover for everyone with the condition, as well as everyone who simply wants to support the cause
The same process for obtaining cover, with or without the condition
Reflecting the true risks of holiday travel, not the perceived risk of travelling with a severe condition
Standard competitive insurance for the family
Changing insurance for the better and giving something back so everyone benefits
As a thank you for all the help breast cancer charities have provided towards insurepink’s creation, they are donating £1 to the Pink Ribbon Foundation for every travel policy and a further £10 for every insurepink car or home insurance policy taken out until 1st October 2008.
Insurance hope for prostate and testicular cancer sufferers
This is just the beginning; as they gather more statistical information, they will be able to develop the policy and create others that are relevant. Insurepink is currently investigating the viability of developing similar travel insurance products for people diagnosed with prostate and testicular cancers.
insurepink is a trading name of Hastings Insurance Services Limited, a UK based company providing insurance policies and related products by phone and online.
