Lincoln's new cover for age-related issues

elderly patient long term care

Lincoln Financial Group has launched a new product designed to cover against typical ailments of old age.

The cover, called Elderly Care, can be sold on a stand-alone basis or as a part of a package, and offers a lump-sum payment if you are  diagnosed with certain age-related afflictions, and financial aid for those who are unable to perform three out of five activities of daily living without assistance, which are listed as mobility in the home, feeding yourself, remaining continent, dressing and using the lavatory.

Designed to help alleviate the high costs of long-term care for the elderly, it allows for unused proceeds to be used by beneficiaries to pay Inheritance Tax or any other bill in the event of death.

Ian Noble, head of life sales and marketing for Lincoln Financial Group, says, "If you haven't made provision, your estate will be eroded while you are alive. This product is a credible solution."

According to the National Statistics Office, the proportion of people who report suffering from long-term illness or disability is over 40% higher with those aged over 85 than those aged between 50 and 64.
