Bahraini employees will eventually be included in a compulsory health insurance scheme currently being drawn up for expatriates.
But Bahrainis would still be allowed free use of the national health service.
The Shura Council has approved the draft of a law making health insurance compulsory for all expatriate workers, including household staff.
With the introduction of the draft law, which will be revised by the government and given a proper form, the scheme will be implemented soon.
