If you want to catch the eye of that good-looking guy across the room, having a 0.7 waist-to-hip ratio is said to be the formula for success.
Research carried out on a group of male volunteers revealed that women with a waist measurement exactly 70 per cent of the hip circumference are most attractive.
The study, involved tracking the men’s eyes with infra-red cameras when looking at various images of women which had their breasts, waist and hips digitally altered.
It was found that even though the men were initially drawn to a women’s cleavage, they found the hips and waist the sexiest part of a woman’s body.
New Zealand anthropologist Barnaby Dixson, leading scientist in the study, explained that small waist-to-hip ratio is linked with good health and high fertility and therefore sends out a biological signal to men that the female is fertile and most likely to produce healthy children.
This hourglass figure is also regarded the most attractive womanly shape across other countries, including the UK, Germany and China and you can understand why with the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Jessica Alba prime examples of the 0.7 perfect figure ratio.
