Mr S, a 45 year old Engineer went to Belgium for a knee arthroscopy operation with Direct Healthcare International but when he returned to the UK he started to experience reoccurring fever and pains. To his local doctors the fevers were a complete mystery so at Direct Healthcare’s expense Mr S returned to Belgium for further examination. The state of the art laboratories found nothing and the fevers continued, however acting on a hunch, the DHI team asked the patient if he had had malaria previously and ran an investigation. Mr S had previously contracted malaria while in the forces some years earlier and his recent knee surgery had been the catalyst for a reoccurrence. The patient was treated at no cost and flown back home.
Mr S said: “I was concerned that I had picked up some kind of infection as a result of my knee surgery but the hospital was so clean I found this hard to imagine. The service they provided was wonderful, they were so quick to react and very thorough with their investigations. I would be very happy to return to Belgium for treatment again.”
