Specialist orthopaedic rehabilitation centre in Poland offering rheumatic orthopaedics, spinal surgery, and arthroscopy. They use minimally invasive techniques to reduce the risk of complications and to speed up recovery.
The Comprehensive Rehabilitation Centre (CRC) in Konstancin, Poland has specialised in the treatment of locomotor illnesses for over 30 years. In October 2006, with a view to help patients requiring surgical intervention, CRC launched a modern Department of One-Day Surgery, Rheumatic Orthopaedics, and Spinal Surgery, which complements their standard treatment offer.
CRC focus on rheumatic orthopaedic surgery, spinal surgery, and arthroscopy procedures, used in sports medicine, among others. They use minimally invasive surgical methods, which considerably shorten hospitalisation time and accelerate recovery.
The department consists of an operating suite, two two-bed recovery rooms, and a ward consisting of five double rooms intended for early patient rehabilitation and recuperation.
The operating suite consists of two air-conditioned operating rooms featuring specialist equipment.
Recovery rooms
Recovery rooms with bathrooms are located within the operating suite. They are equipped with life-sign monitoring systems. Patients who stay there remain under the constant care of physicians and nurses.
Wardrooms
These are comfortable, double rooms with bathrooms, designed to suit patients with locomotor dysfunction. Each room contains a bed of electrically adjustable height, a TV, a radio, a telephone, and a nurse call system.
Rehab in Poland: Services offered
Rheumatic orthopaedics
The following prophylactic, corrective, and reconstructive procedures for rheumatoid arthritis are conducted at the Rehabilitation Centre:
Spinal Surgery
At CRC's Education and Rehabilitation Centre, they use modern surgical methods for discopathy, including two that are unique in the country:
-
Endoscopic lumbar nucleotomy using the Endospine Technique. The procedure involves X-ray identification of the pathologically changed section of the spine. Then, a 2 cm incision into the skin is made, allowing insertion of an endoscope containing a camera and a light source. The surgeon views the inside of the spinal canal on a monitor and removes the disc with surgical instruments, aided by the endoscope. The procedure lasts approximately one hour, after which the endoscope is withdrawn, and the wound is stitched and dressed. After 24 hours,

the patient is discharged home. Due to the minimally invasive nature of the procedure and little damage to the paraspinal tissues, the recovery period is shorter than that following operations performed using the traditional method.
Transcutaneous lumbar discectomy – coblation nucleoplasty. This procedure is conducted under local anaesthesia. A thin electrode, which can generate pulses causing the breakup of organic molecules in the nucleus pulposus, is inserted into the disc under X-ray supervision. The resulting debris is removed through an aspirator coupled with the electrode. The procedure lasts approximately 20 minutes. The patient may be discharged home a few hours later.
CRC also offer classic surgical treatment methods for spinal disorders:
-
Lumbar discectomy,
-
Cervical discectomy and arthrodesis (stiff implant) or arthroplasty (mobile implant)
-
Discectomy with transpedicular stabilisation in the case of spondylolisthesis and lumbar spondylosis
-
Vertebroplasty (injection of bone cement into a vertebra) in the case of osteoporotic fractures and angiomas of the vertebral bodies in the thoracic and lumbar segments of the spine. The procedure is conducted under X-ray supervision and requires only a small incision of the skin.
Arthroscopy
