Clinica SANDALF: Orthopaedic surgery and physiotherapy in Spain

Clinica Médica Internacional SANDALF is a private medical clinic offering specialist treatment for orthopaedic surgery, injuries and accidents, as well as physiotherapy. The Clinica SANDALF team is UK trained and after several years in the NHS decided to relocate to southern Spain.

The clinic

The clinic facilities include the most advanced technological equipment to help reach a diagnosis quickly and efficiently. Our x-ray unit, diagnostic ultrasound machine and bone density scanner allow for most investigations to be performed in our clinic. Clinica SANDALF also has a small operating theatre to perform the smaller surgeries such as trigger finger, carpal tunnel and hammer toes.

The more sophisticated operations, to list just a few, include:

Minimally invasive joint replacements: hip, knee, ankle and  shoulder as well as some of the hand and foot joints

Hip joint resurfacing (also known as the Birmingham hip)

Hand surgery (e.g. Dupuytrens disease, finger joint replacement including the trapezius)

Arthroscopic procedures (keyhole surgery)

These procedures are performed in a private hospital very close to Clinica SANDALF. While in hospital you are looked after by the Clinica SANDALF team with daily visits from the consultant and the physiotherapist thereby eliminating language difficulties faced if you do not speak Spanish.

The length of hospital stay depends on the type of surgery performed but would be between 1 and 7 days. Accommodation after leaving hospital can be arranged by us. Hotel, aparthotel or residential home can be found according to your needs and preference. Usually lower limb joint replacement surgery would require an average stay of 20 days in total before returning home.     

Mr. Alf Neuhaus FRCS Orth (Ger), Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

Mr. Neuhaus is registered with the British General Medical Council (number: 4252485) and the General Medical Council of Malaga as an Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon (number: 9220). Mr. Neuhaus began his medical career in Hamburg, Germany and then continued with his specialist training in orthopaedics and traumatology in both Germany and the U.K. and now holds the title of FRCS Orth (Ger). Mr Neuhaus is fluent in German, English and Spanish.    

Sandra Vincenti BSc(Hons) MCSP, UK Chartered Physiotherapist

Ms Vincenti is registered with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy in the UK and with the Colegio de Fisioterapeutas de Andalucia. No. 682. She qualified at the University of the West of England, Bristol, and then spent several years with the NHS before moving to Spain. She specialises in musculo-skeletal problems such as soft tissue or joint injuries as well as back and neck problems. Ms Vincenti does all of the post-operative rehabilitation and is therefore responsible for getting patients fit and mobile again after surgery.  She is also trained in manual lymphatic drainage.
