DuncanHarriss’s Your Vasectomy Reversal Surgery, Nottingham

Your Vasectomy Reversal Clinic Duncan Harriss
Mr Duncan Harriss: Vasectomy Reversal Specialist and Consultant Urological Surgeon, Nottingham

Duncan Harris FRCS (Urol) runs the original vasectomy reversal clinic at the BMI Park Hospital Nottingham, which started in 1998.

With over 15 years experience, performing around 500  microsurgical vasectomy reversals every year, all under general anaesthetic, the great majority of people regain their fertility.

For many couples who were not aware that a vasectomy could be reversed or have been given poor information elsewhere or had a poor experience elsewhere, there is reassurance that their chances of regaining their fertility are being maximized with Mr Duncan Harriss.

Why does a vasectomy reversal operation need a microscope and skill?

In a vasectomy reversal, the tubes that were cut in the vasectomy are re-attached. As they are so small, it is necessary to use a microscope to get a good look at what is being re-joined. Also, the stitches used are so small and so fine, it is just not possible to see these without the microscope. It takes much skill and careful surgery to perform a successful vasectomy reversal

Many couples go on to have babies, as can be seen by their many testimonials.

A recent audit by the British Association of Urological Surgeons recommended that: “patient management after previous vasectomy is a complex process requiring detailed knowledge when it comes to the surgical techniques available and the options for maximizing the chance of any subsequent pregnancy”. Mr Harriss’s experience is significant and constantly being updated due to the large number of people he operates on.

Mr Harriss only performs microsurgical vasectomy reversals

Mr Harriss only performs microsurgical vasectomy reversals under a general anaesthetic, for better results and greater pain control. Local anaesthetic can result in operations not being completed.

Mr Harriss has never been unable to perform a vasectomy reversal due to how the vasectomy was performed.

Mr Harriss’s technique works. Mr Harriss will not blind you with science, he works hard to refine his technique which is why his latest audit (May 2013) achieved better results all across all times since vasectomy.

Mr Harriss is praised by patients for his approachability and non-judgmental approach.

Mr Harriss is a fully qualified, consultant urological surgeon with a NHS Consultant Urological position at a leading teaching hospital in Nottingham.

People come to Mr Harriss for their redo vasectomy reversal when their first reversal, had elsewhere, failed or not been completed due to either local anaesthetic or poor technique.

Your Vasectomy Reversal Clinic D Harriss

"My experience at the Park Hospital in Nottingham under the care of Mr Harriss made me feel completely secure from the moment I signed in at reception. All the staff were so very welcoming and my care was exceptional. I hold Mr Harriss in high regard - not just for his medical skills and text book professionalism, but also for his people skills. Mr Harriss is a warm and caring doctor who, within minutes of meeting him at the first consultation made us both feel that we had certainly made the right choice. He takes the time to listen to questions, any initial anxiety and is very good at reading his patients. He could tell I was nervous and made a particular effort to ensure that I felt as comfortable as possible. He was prompt with his pre and post-operative care and he inspires confidence when you speak with him."

Audit of Mr Harriss’s cases from 2008 to 2013 indicated the following results:

  • For men who had their vasectomy between 3 months and 7years previously, they would have a 98% chance of success
  • For men who had their vasectomy between 8 and 14 years previously, they would have a 94% chance of success
  • For men who had their vasectomy 15 to 20 years previously, they would have a 84% chance of success
  • For men who had their vasectomy over 21 years previously, they would have a 50% chance of success

Mr Harriss works alone and performs all the operations himself in 3 - 4 dedicated operating lists every week. This high number of operations every week leads to a vast range of experience and high levels of success.

"Anyone searching for a surgeon to carry out a vasectomy reversal operation should look no further than this website, Mr Harriss' results speak for themselves!! If you want the best surgeon for the job then you have just found him."

"I thought I would email while I am up feeding our 9 week old gorgeous baby boy. My husband had his Vasectomy October 2011. I gave birth to XXXX just 8 months later. It appears we fell pregnant 14 days after reversal on our 1st try. Our little boy arrived 3 weeks early. He was obviously as eager to meet us as we were to meet him. Thank you so much for everything. It was a very big decision to have the reversal and try for a sibling for our little boy and after cancelling the reversal a few months earlier we changed our mind again and were offered a cancellation a couple of weeks later. As we then went on to conceive straight away we feel he really was meant to be. He's our little miracle and we are all thrilled! Thank you again!"
