Bridge Health logo

Every aspect of our society is moving toward a global marketplace, and medicine is no exception. Increasingly, people are traveling abroad for high-quality medical care that offers immediate service and access to procedures that may not be available locally.

Stem Cell 1

Stem cell treatment in Mexico

In many countries, stem cell treatment and therapy are not available. When available, the cost for these therapies is very high. Overseas stem cell centres have had more experience treating many of the health issues stem cell therapy can improve.

Mexico, long a favoured vacation getaway, is home to a friendly culture, comforting pace and the opportunity for many high quality procedures.

Stem cell procedures

The goal of stem cell treatments or regenerative medicine is to repair organs or tissues that are damaged by disease, aging or trauma so function is restored or improved. Adult stem cells are not involved in the controversy and bioethical concerns related to embryonic stem cell therapies. Most of the procedures involved in stem cell treatment require a short stay and are non-surgical. The number of treatments required depends upon the condition and the stage or level of impairment, and each disease and health issue has a specific treatment plan.

Stem cell treatments can use stem cells that are autologous (from the patient’s own body), or allogeneic (from a donor). To collect autologous stem cells, the physician may extract bone marrow or a small amount of fat from the patient. A potential advantage of using autologous stem cells is that the cells would not be rejected by the immune system. This represents a significant advantage as immune rejection is a difficult problem that can only be circumvented with immunosuppressive drugs.

Stem Cell 2

BridgeHealth is connected to licensed centers around the world that provide best-in-class adult stem cell lines. In addition to providing on-site medical and technical staff, standardised procedures, quality assurance standards, patient qualification and education, and clinical study and development, our centers also feature:

  • Established procedures that create an optimal physiological environment within the patient prior to transplantation.

  • Stem cell formulations that combine cell lines to achieve the best possible therapeutic outcomes for disease-specific conditions.

  • Patient-specific stem cell quantities that take into consideration both the patients' parameters and disease-specific conditions in order to have a significant impact on treatment outcomes.

  • Comprehensive protocols for pre and post-treatment therapy, including: patient management and monitoring; use of adjunct therapies; pharmaceutical compounds; and technology that support treatment.

Medical aftercare

Recovery time from stem cell treatment is generally minimal. The patient is released following a successful 24-hour observation period following the last day of treatment. The patient continues the prescribed course of adjunct therapy, physical therapy or other therapy as prescribed.

The progress of the patient is monitored and evaluations are performed to mutually-determine if additional treatments are needed and to track outcomes for investigational purposes. The monitoring process takes place at set intervals for up to two years after treatment.

Some stem cell therapies will require follow-up care once you return home.

Cost of stem cell therapy

BridgeHealth has negotiated the best prices available, and there are no added fees for using their Travel Care Coordinators.  The cost for your procedure depends upon the particulars of the procedure itself, the destination and your specific medical condition.
