Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is treatment based on talking to another person who is objective, sympathetic and non-judgmental. Under these circumstances it is possible to talk about what are sometimes very painful issues or life challenges. By sharing these issues and learning more about them, it is possible to gain the strength and understanding to deal with them more effectively and gain ascendency over them.

Psychotherapists may use a combination of techniques to address issues such as:

  • Addiction

  • Anger management

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Divorce and relationship break-up

  • Eating disorders

  • Financial problems and redundancy

  • General well-being

  • Loss and bereavement

  • Lack of motivation

  • Low self-esteem

  • Physical, emotional or sexual abuse

  • Sexual problems

  • Trauma

Psychotherapists have different ways of working depending on their training. These include: humanistic psychotherapy, integrative psychotherapy, Jungian psychotherapy and analysis, transpersonal psychotherapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, family therapy, relationship counseling, cognitive and behavioural psychotherapy and neurolinguistic programming.
