Priory is the UK's leading independent provider of eating disorder services. Eating disorders are a complex combination of medical and psychiatric issues that require sensitive treatment. The Priory have a number of specialist units in their hospitals with a flexible range of programmes to treat anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder and EDNOS (eating disorders not otherwise specified). They also accept emergency admissions for eating disorders.
The Priory have provided thousands of eating disordered patients with the insight and courage they need to change, to maintain healthy bodies and relationships with food, and to lead positive, fulfilled lives. At The Priory, every patient is under the care of a consultant psychiatrist who specialises in eating disorders. Each consultant psychiatrist leads a team of nurses, therapists, psychologists, dieticians and education staff with specialist knowledge and training and who are dedicated to treating eating disordered patients.
The Priory provide care packages that are tailored to the individual patient's medical, psychological and social needs and aims to successfully conquer the issues that led to the eating disorder, as well as helping the patient achieve their target weight. Their eating disorders patients spend their stay in dedicated wards where they are encouraged to share their life experiences as well as offer each other friendship and support on their journey towards mental and physical health.
School-aged patients can continue their education in these units and, where appropriate, The Priory liaise with patients' schools to assist their re-integration after treatment. The Priory also support the patients' families and friends, who are often seriously affected by the issues facing their loved ones.

The majority of referrals are made through the patient's GP. A referral can be made to the appropriate hospital's Admissions Office by telephone, e-mail, fax or in writing. The Admissions Office then passes the patient's details on to the appropriate consultant psychiatrist. Priory accept 24/7 referrals. Urgent or out-of-hours appointments and admissions can be arranged immediately by telephoning the appropriate hospital.
