The Learning Assessment and Neurocare Centre was established in 1993. Over the past 17 years the centre has seen more than 6000 people with these conditions, sees up to 240 new patients annually from all over the country and overseas, and has about 1600 patients on its active long-term clinical management list. The centre has developed a local and also a national reputation for being able to assess children, adolescents, and adults with suspected neurodevelopmental difficulties in an experienced and comprehensive way. Whilst it sees people with the more straightforward problems, it also has a great deal of expertise in the assessment and management of people with complex difficulties.

What are the centre’s strengths that could be helpful to your child or yourself?

The reason why so many people have chosen to utilise the services of The Learning Assessment and Neurocare Centre over the years include:

  • Comprehensive and experienced assessment: The clinic staff have had invaluable experience over the past 17 years assessing children, adolescents and adults with a wide range of neurodevelopmental difficulties, particularly ADHD and coexisting difficulties.

  • School liaison is an essential part of a child’s clinical management at the centre. Information is requested from schools via the centre's teacher feedback form prior to the assessment, together with as much other information as possible from previous school reports and assessments.

  • The LANC has always taken a lifespan approach to the management of people with ADHD recognising for many years that children, adolescents, and adults can have significant problems with the condition and that it is not just a condition of childhood.
