Osteoporosis is a generalised disorder of the skeleton, where bone strength is compromised as a result of reduced bone quality and low bone density. The consequent structural weakness leads to an increase in bone fragility and risk of fractures. (broken bones).
There is an increasing range of highly effective treatments for osteoporosis. It is important to recognise that it is never too late, and a person never too old, for treatment to be introduced.
London Medical provides a comprehensive clinical outpatient service for osteoporosis which can be delivered wherever possible through a ‘one-stop’ approach. The clinic has, on-site, the most up-to-date bone densitometer which allows, in addition, to readings of bone densitometry, rapid measurement of the spine to check for unidentified vertebral fractures.
