Mr. Ahmed R Ahmed BSc (Hons) FRCS (Gen) is a Consultant Surgeon at Charing Cross Hospital, Imperial College
London. He set up and heads the bariatric and metabolic surgery unit
which is now a leading unit in the UK designated as an NHS preferred
provider and provisionally recognised as an International Bariatric
Surgery Centre of Excellence ASMBS.
He trained at University College London and
Middlessex Hospital School of Medicine. Prior to his Consultant
appointment he undertook extensive training in laparoscopic (keyhole)
surgery in both the UK and USA.

bariatric surgery. He is also actively involved in bariatric surgery
research and has numerous publications in peer reviewed journals. He is a
member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), International Federation of Surgery for Obesity (IFSO), Society of American Gastroenterological and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), Association of Upper GI Surgeons (AUGIS), and the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society (BOSS). He was awarded the 2007 International Federation of Surgery for Obesity (IFSO) Scholarship.
